Here is a nice video of upstanding southern American citizens using their intelligence to enjoy their holiday season.

Why would we ever go to Columbia, when we could find girls like this in a near by neighborhood. I am taking a shot in the dark here, but Harlem. Maybe Hempstead.

this chick is columbian as well....who wants to fly down

i got some questions:

1. what do you have to wear to this thing? should i go a get some tight shorts and a tight shirt so i can look the part?
2. we doing the entire thing? stopping in brooklyn? doing it twice?
3. i was reading the book they gave us.....we have to be there by like 6:00 or something....and i have to take a camera to take crazy action shots...o yeaaaaaaaaaa......i was going to say that if you guys decide that you dont want to go into staten island that we can get off early and go for a ride on our own......across the brooklyn bridge and into downtown...i dont know. just making sugegestions.....or we can just stop and go hangout and have a few drinks...the possibilities are endlessss

There Will Be Karaoke

Ladies and gentlemen, if I say I'm a karaoke man, you will agree. Good stuff Saturday night. I think you now know what I kept mentioning karaoke everytime we went out. Emily and I are in talks to co-headline a U.S. Tour. I think America is ready for me. I think we should get serious about getting some Chicago/Boston plans going. I vote to see how much Red Sox tickets are going for on Stubhub because I'm sure they're sold out. I'm in the middle of sorting out my schedule of events and after that I can get a better idea what weekends are best.

straight up...wish we took some video of the kareoke sesh on saturday night....wow, is all i have to say.....JJ was tearing it up--mike and i tried our best, but couldnt touch JJ and Emily.

sidenote...i dont know where the fuck we were, but there were a lot of weird people in that place....

sidenote...hope the little asian kid who was getting choked out by the tan guido dude made it hope alive...kid was getting murdered by the bouncer.....

If I can, I will. Need to see how the work load turns for the end of the week.

yo esteban you coming down friday night im assuming...get your ass out of work early so we can chill on friday night...get some dinner or something.

you can borrow my spandex from my 5k the day before.... but i wont wash it... and you'll have to wear it on your head. muhahahahahaha

  • I'm using my road bike
  • I have a mountain bike for jon (assuming he doesnt like one of steve's better)
  • I have a helmet for jon
  • I don't care. I can drive... or I can drive your car. It don't matter to the Jesus.
  • We can finish in Brooklyn, right before the Verrazano Bridge. Fuck Staten Island.

who has extra spandex?

5 boro bike tour.

We need to find out where we need to go.
I also have a 4 bike tow hitch rack and the two on my roof, but you can drive. I don't mind.
I should also have some helmets and shizzz.
I've got a bike for Nora. Mike, you got one for Jon right?

Mike, you are using your road bike right? not your mountain bike.

mets, mets, mets

hey fellas.

Since (yet again) my bad karma is catching up to me, I'm having an interesting monday morning. Losing my keys on Saturday night is proving to be more difficult than anticipated. The only key that I really need from that key-chain is the one that opens the cabinets at my desk at work.
This cabinet holds the following:
  • All of my documents (restricted and non-restricted)
  • All of my hardhats/rain-gear for going onto the site
  • My notebook/datebook
  • Everything that I will need for all my meetings today.

And then karma comes back and rips me another HUGE asshole. My cell-phone battery is DEAD. D-E-D, dead. So please don't try to communicate with me. My cellphone charger is also in the possession of, one, Mr. Steven Portela..... Boston, MA. Pure comedy over here. Seriously..... comedy.

Christopher, my deepest apologies for not seeing you off on Saturday night. I guess you must have ducked out at some point between Turtle Bay and Karaoke. What happened? I thought you had at least one rendition of 'I want it that way' by the Backstreet Boys. Between you, me, JJ, and Jon we could have torn it up and made the ladies swooooon.

Jon, you are again awarded the "hero of the day." Thanks for bailing me out.**

JJ, you handsome devil, you. I intend to watch 'There Will be Blood' as soon as possible so that we can have a wonderful night of oil-references. I think that will be particularly applicable due to the fact that gasoline is now $1,000/gallon. Ok, maybe $4, but it still feels like a thousand.

ITEMS for DISCUSSION

  1. Bike Tour de New York: What do we need in terms of equipment? I have one extra helmet for someone. I also have a sweet, 4-bike, bike rack for my truck.
  2. Mets game tonight: Is this thing going to be rained out or what? I don't think my brother wants to go... and I'm thinking that I should really just skip the game and go swimming. I'm both fat and lazy.
  3. When are we scheduled to go camping/Chicago/Philadelphia/Camden Yards/Boston? Pick a weekend. (The following weekends are not good - May24, June 15, June 28)

**not from jail.

Yo kiddies,

Its been hectic up here this week.
I am guessing you guys are NOT coming up this weekend? maybe I'll get a chance to make up for all the sleep I missed last weekend and this week.

Bike tour next Sunday. Mike and I have a 5k on sat morning. Saturday afternoon, Jon, I need Nora to come over so I can get my mom's bike set for her and so we can play a game of bball or something. Maybe even go to the beach. Who knows.

To the rest of yall.... hope things are well. catch you guys soon.

whats up guys...mike i forgot to take a look at my tickets to see if i had some for monday, but either way i would like to go to the game...

steve where the hell you been man? what is everyone up to this weekend?

Thursday, April 24, 2008

steven and I are going to be heading to the mets game this monday. I got the two tickets for $5. Any of you guys interested in hitting up the game? They're playing the Pirates.

I figured, for $5, it'd be a good chance to chill and have a couple beers in an establishment that is not the St. James. Plus, its the mets. Let me know.

Sign me up 4 saturday... congrats on the nephew

i think it should definitely involve the ladies. we should get everyone to join us. get a whole bunch of people. in my opinion, thats the best way to do it.

im thinking......

  • chris
  • christina
  • myself
  • big-steve
  • andrew
  • jon
  • nora
  • meg
  • eric
  • jj
  • steven
  • tom
  • vanessa
  • _______________who else am i missing????

Werd. So we'll have camping be the next trip? Woodstock sounds nice. Good Hiking up there. Is this dudes only or the girls tagging along??

Chris> really sorry to miss the earth day festivities this sunday in central park. it must have been pretty dapper with all the nice weather and such. we should defintiely try to make it into central park more often on the weekends.

Are you trying to take off from work on the weekend of May4th? because that weekend, steve is coming back to Long Island for this bike-tour thingy. We should try to plan another camping trip style thing for a weekend in June instead. I know a good campground in Woodstock, NY. It has a lake and is dirt cheap to camp at.

Or else we could venture into Amish country in Pennsylvania which is always pretty tight. Usually there is a bunch of fun stuff to do around that area. That campground has a lake too.

jon> what weekend is tom planning the camping trip? or did that fall through?
Let me know what weekends you guys would be interested in.......

I was about to rsvp for tonight too but congrats on the new nephew! Of course I am there for Emily's birthday. This will be my first time at the beer garden. I can't make Boston but I'll put in time off for two weeks from now to go. Sound good ya'll?

awww shucks. i was just about to rsvp for both myself and steven. Let's go ahead and make the distinction now that "Big-steve" is steven portela, and "steven" is my brother. I dont think i've ever called "steve", "steven", so that will all work out fine. Let me know if there are any questions........... right.

so what is the nephew's deal? Is Jack super revved up about having a boy this time? Three older sisters..... that little dude is gonna be a P-I-M-P-D-A-D-D-Y.

Oh, and I am very much down for the Beer Garden action. Just say the word and I will be there.

alright...soooo. since there hasnt been much response regarding Wiii Wed. it wont be a big deal that today has to be cancelled due to the fact that my nephew had to be born on this day. so i have to celebrate with him. perhaps we can start it up next wed...but let me know if you guy are interested.....

also, this saturday night is emily's birfday celebration. she lives in astoria i believe and is going to the beer garden. she said for me to invite all you guys, so if you are going to be around on saturday night we should set it up...if it rains, then i dont know where we are going- bottom line, something is going on that night....

good afternoon all.

shift into 3rd? am i missing something?

my possible return to boston this weekend is totally and completely dependant on Jonathan Martins' and Christopher Curtis' and JJ Batterton's desire to accompany me. I was actually thinking about taking a pass on another round in beantown if they were having second thoughts. So let's see how it goes. Fellas, please let me know where you stand.

Marathon monday was fantastic as always, wish you guys were there.

I have to go swimming on wednesday nights, but I will definitely meet up with you guys when I finish up. I could probably be there around 9:15-9:30.

update: i just got the 3rd gear reference. took me long enough.

I am just about to shift into 3rd.

What up fellas!
I believe Mikey is planning on coming back to Boston this coming weekend. I have no idea why he wants to, but regardless, you should all come with him.

more things to be thankful for:

  • Jon. for providing the tickets. what an excellent feet (feat?) of awesomeness.
  • the man sitting behind us for staring/whistling at the girl flashing her chest.... and then turning to his young daughter (?) and saying "i hope you never do that."
  • jon's palm pilot, for getting us through the 12th,13th, and 14th innings.
  • the nationals fan for getting in a fist fight with the mets fan.
  • the guy who kept screaming, "ayeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee." ariba, ariba fella.

It would be my honor to have another evening like that. More peanuts, please.

PS> are we going camping or what?

fun times at the mets game.....thank you mr prince (both of them) for drinking with me for the evening....i also want to thank the woman in section 14 for flashing everyone like 5 times. want to thank coors light for making tall boys, and corona for making cans.....thank god for giving us a wonderful night for a ballgame....and Mr. John Lannan for putting on a show...11 strikeouts. he pitched good, and the mets won....good times. we have to set it up again soon.

Thursday, April 17, 2008

I work tonight so can't make Mets. Let's try n see a record number of Mets games this season. I'll begin taking days off. Sunday will be a big day. They're doing all types of stuff in the park for FREE!!! Hope all can make it out.

fuck, fuck, motherfucking shit.

JON- i left my phone at my house this morning as i rushed out the door. Are we still going to the Mets game tonight to see Lannan pitch? Reach out to me when you get a chance.

boston

Gentlemen,
Just as a heads up to anyone interested..... i'm gonna be heading up to boston this weekend to celebrate the 112th annual Boston Marathon. Of course, you are all encouraged to join me (and impose on steve), but you should be forewarned that I have taken off from work on Monday because that is when they are running the marathon. Also because Marathon Monday is hands down my favorite holiday of the whole entire year (even beating out Christmas!)

If you just want to come up for the weekend, or even better, if you can take monday off from work, i suggest you join us for some good, clean fun. I can drive up and there are several means to come home on Sunday should you choose to go home earlier. Buses start at $15 and flights start at around $59.

Other events this weekend include:

  • The boston marathon
  • Red Sox play on Fri, Sat, Sun and Monday at home.
  • The Baseball Tavern has a roof-deck
  • Wiffle ball on the quad
  • Kegs and eggs on Marathon Monday
  • Everyone in the city has off from work on Monday

The Tree Man of Java

Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

To learn more about the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, click here

thought this was funnny...happened in the apartment i lived in my senior year....

an account from a friend of mine....

Sorry for the delay on this one....here is the security e-mail from some asshole falling off our roof of terra nova last weekend. my roomie johnny heard this kid moaning when he was chillin in the common room...and all the windows were closed. from what i hear is this kid was blacked out thought he was playing hide and seek and was hanging off the side of the building and wasnt able to pull himself back up. broke both his heels maybe ribs....but like not bad at all considering all things. needless to say the kids a jackass and now security is trying to have our place on lockdown, so wish the kid broke his neck ....

At approximately 3:00 AM on April 5, 2008 a guest/visitor of aresident student at 2504 Hoffman Street climbed the emergency ladder to theroof, crossed over to 2500 Hoffman Street and apparently fell from thatroof to the alley below. This guest was observed by resident students ashe proceeded to the roof and opened the emergency hatch, which is designedto provide safety for upper floor residents in a fire if they are trapped.Residents notified the Terranova building security guard, summoned 911 andthe Security Supervisor. The injured guest was removed by FUEMS to St.Barnabas Hospital in serious but stable condition. This incident is beinginvestigated by the Safety/Security Department. Students are reminded of University policy to never enter rooftopsunless they are trapped on upper floors during fire and cannot exit thebuilding because of smoke/fire below them. Rooftops are inherentlydangerous places and even more dangerous during inclement weather, whichwas the current condition during this incident.

happy monday guys....any fun times this weekend?......friday was fun.....i had a good time at least. whos got something to tell?

Friday, April 11, 2008

mike i am down to go to the wine bar in garden city.....JJ? CHris? you guys want to go?

ok, if we go to brooklyn, most likely it will be fun, but steve won't be able to meet up with us. I mean, that's totally cool with me, since I HATE him..... but he would not be able to join.

Beer garden should definitely be saved for a very nice night in either May or June. We can't prematurely...... ummm..... enter? Save it for a sunny day, i'd say.

Garden City last time was quite an eye opening experience. There was a place next door as well, right? That place looked pretty tight. Except this time let's eat at Friday's or something and then go for drinks. Save some $$$$.

Manhattan I'm certainly not opposed to at all..... I'll be here for happy hour(s), so if you just want to meet at Nora's apartment and then go out from there, I'm down. Fo Sho.

Bottom Line = I vote Manhattan (dinner + drinks) or Garden City (just drinks).

come on people!!!! what you guys want to do tonight?

i was going to see if you wanted to go to the beer garden but it is going to rain all night it looks like....

'sooooooo......

so what you guys want to do ????????

Thursday, April 10, 2008

yo yo yo yo yo.
April 20th in Central Park sounds like a great idea. Definitely the frisbee and the rugby ball. maybe a picnic with some icey cold brewskies? organic for earthday, of course.

Something tomorrow night sounds pretty tight as well. I'd definitely be down to hit up brooklyn as well. I'll ask one of my buddies, he was telling me that Fort Greene has some pretty tight places too. I'll pick his brain.

whats going on that day chris? give us the details....i would like to spend the day in the park....ill bring the frisbee. chris bring your rugby ball.

also, chris you joining us this weekend? what you guys want to do? tomorrow night? i have my moms birthday on saturday so i dont think i can do something that day.....but tomorrow night lets do something..........we can do a brooklyn tour part II. or we can go into manhattan. lets get it done.

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

Hey is anyone available for an earth day event april 20th (sunday) in central park?

check this out..i laughed out loud for real.....

lets just go to the burg....let me see if my sis wants to drive...if you want to just take the train though its cool.

Crooklyn! (bad cliche')

if we're driving, let's meet at jon's house and take one car/SUV.
I can be at your house at approximately 7pm.

if we're meeting in brooklyn, i would love to take the train, so that I can enjoy some beverages.
I can meet you in brooklyn no earlier than 8:30pm.

Also, what area in brooklyn are we going to go to? Williamsburg? Fort Greene?

so what time you guys want to meet up this evening?

Some more crazy talk from a friend of mine that i thought you guys might find funny.....

I french kissed the hottest girl in 7th grade (Jocelyn) to a NKOTB song. She had posters up all over her room with them and we made out and grinded with jeans on until we she wanted to replay side A and we had to flip the cassette tape, press fast fwd, flip it back, and press play.

I love that band. I think I busted in my pants that day.

Thursday, April 3, 2008

haha..obvi the gf can come.

ps.--we saw a place down there with $4 margaritas all night....o yeaaaaaa.

Friday night sounds good. I have to check with the gf. yea... I'm wipped

Hooray! We are going to ride into the Manhattan/Bronx/Queens/Brooklyn/Staten Island sunset together. Hooray! JJ, Chris, Tom (maybe Ness?) are you guys going to join up or what?

Anyway. Jon, I have a sweet bicycle for you to ride upon. It even has gears, so don't worry about riding the fixed gear.

In other news, the 5K is going to take place the day before (May 3rd). It's part of the Long Island Marathon weekend and is $25 to enter. It runs around the Nassau Colliseum area. Very nice.
http://www.thelimarathon.com/index.php?t=5k

I'm not sure if I am definitely going to sign up, but Ma-dukes is probably going to run it, so I will at the very least be there to cheer her on.

PS> Jon, you should check Nora's facebook. You may have been tagged in a flurry of new photos from the Central Park Biathlon this past weekend. You know, anything is possible with computers these days.

JJ.....................Chris..................Mike...........you guys want to go out friday night? brooooklyn?

Wednesday, April 2, 2008

The end of April should be good for me. I'll let you know for sure as we get closer.

yo where is the 5K?

Does anyone have a flat screen computer monitor they're selling or getting rid of? And does the bike tour or 5k benefit any fund or cause?

Man am I glad to hear that Jonny martins is signed up for the 5 boros bike tour. I hope Nora signed up as well.

Mike and I are signed up boy. Of course. We are talking about doing a 5k the day before. You up for that too?
